Another weekend

After the day trip to Linz on Friday, Saturday was spent on random paperwork, emails and figuring out my classes. Apparently here it is okay to completely change the days of classes and/or the contents of the class. For example, my class went from marketing in emerging marketing to business in China. My marketing research class went from being the 3rd week in March to the 3rd week in June! Of course most all other classes are full so it is difficult to switch classes!

Saturday I went to the opera. It was only 3€ for standing room seats and although I am not sure I will go again it was a good experiences. The opera was in Italian, but they did have little screens with it in English! Even my friend that I went with who was Italian said it was easier to read the screens for her because it was hard to understand them. We only stayed for 3/4 of the opera because it was almost 3 hours otherwise!

Sunday my roommates and I went to mauthausen concentration camp. It was about a 2 and a half hour train ride from where we live. After getting there we decided to walk to the camp because the prisoners would have had to walk from the train station. It was 3 kilometers and we got lost but thankfully multiple people helped us find the way. It was quite humbling to see the horrific conditions that the prisoners had to endure. We were able to walk around all of the buildings that were left up and listen to the audio guide where we got a lot of the history. They also had a museum as well. Wow, it was so eye opening I am not sure what else to say about it, but you can look at the pictures for yourself.

This week I am literally looking forward to a tour of the Austrian parliament, brewery tour, going to another famous palace, and hopefully booking trips for my next 2 weeks off! Stay tuned😄

❤ Melanie
