My family has arrived in Vienna and I am giving them the grand tour! They flew into Vienna and then we are all traveling to Venice, Florence, and Roma! Here are some of the highlights of our time in Vienna!
Day 1:
- Airport arrival with the first thing my mom ordering is American coffee
- Traditional schnitzel for dinner downtown ( goulash for me!)
- Walk around the city including Rathaus, imperial palace, museumquartier, parliament, and parks
- People watching and taking in all of the action from the life ball- wow people can get away with wearing anything! Body paint is quite popular as seen in the pictures. We even saw a woman wearing nothing but body paint and a thong! Quite the crowd haha
- Ice cream from zanaroni zanaroni-best ice cream!
Day 2:
- We started with going to the hunderwasse house and of course taking tacky pictures at the telephone booth next to it
- Then, we went on the ring strasse tram and went around the city-we went into the opera house as a show was just finishing only to get kicked out since we didn’t have tickets-whoops
- Ate at Demel traditional sachet torte which was delicious and enjoyed the bakery of royalty while getting out of the rainier weather
- We went to the belvedere palace which is one of my favorites but ended up losing Marlene and bobby for about 45 minutes! Difficult when no one has cell phone connection whoops
- I took them around my school and showed them where I go to class and such ( when I do occasionally have to go)
- Ferris wheel ride in Prater at the oldest still working wheel in the world. It was a beautiful sunny day outside and fun to see the views
- Ate kasierkraners at prater and I think Marlene fell in love with these tasty hotdogs filled with cheese
- Drinks at the danube at one of the beach bars I have been wanting to try out

Day 3:
- Today was the nicest day and spent at the touristy schonbrunn palace
- I went and explored the grounds more while my family went through the imperial apartments
- Explored the privy and orangery gardens which were beautiful
- Picnic at the place introducing them to the tasty stroopwaffles from Amsterdam
- View from the panorama platform on top of the gloriette
- Drinks at the karlsplatz cathedral
- Walked through nashmarkt
- Dinner at a beer garden in Statpark with ribs and fries for me!
We ended the day getting onto the night train headed for Venice! Action packed days, but they had an inclusive view of all of Vienna! Off to Venice stay tooned!
