Arrived in Venice after the night train! Turns out we went through Switzerland so I can check that country off of my list haha It was quite cozy in those little compartments but we survived!
We started our time in Venice by checking out the islands of Burano and Murano since today was supposed to be the nicest day. I saw Burano on Pinterest and was drawn to the colorful buildings. Murano is known for their glasswork and we just walked around, did some shopping and had lunch. Turns out that the glass factory was closed for lunch (2 hours with Italin time) so we missed doing that but oh well! Burano was drop dead stunning with the colorful houses just as bright as the pictures show. Probably my favorite town inEurope topping Cinque Terre which is really saying something since I adored cinque terre. I enjoyed taking pictures all over the town and seeing how authentic is was. People were out just hanging there laundry and chatting in Italian which is different than the tourist vibe of Venice.
After our island tour we headed back to Venice for the much anticipated gondola ride. This was something on my bucket list and a must do for anyone visitng Venice. I read up online how they try to rip off the tourists and was wel prepared to tell them what we wanted. This paid off and we got a fabulous gondalier and it was just as magical as the movies make it out to be. We went at sunset in the small canals with our gondalier telling us all of the important landmarks and trivia about Venice and the canals. 10/10 would reccomend since it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. After the gondalier ride we went to a small restaurant for dinner that was delicious with cute atmosphere in a garden. We then managed through the winding canals home with our tummies full of pizza, gelato and Italian wine.
The next day we toured around Venice more just getting lost in the canals. It was kind of rainy cloudy so I am glad we got most stuff done yesterday! Off to Florence now😊 thanks for reading
