I am a little behind on my entries so here is to playing catch up from last week! Our first impressions of Florence started when we arrived and walked to get to our hotel! They put us up in a room up three flights of narrow steps outside that we got the pleasure of climbing in the pouring rain. Not the best start but we then went to Kitsch for a traditional aperativo. An aperativo is where you order a drink and then get access to this huge buffet of foods. It was great being able to try all these different pastas, pizzas, etc and have a little bit of everything. 😊
The next day we got up early and had a nice breakfast in the garden at the hotel before traveling off to see the duomo. After an audio tour, I did some research and found a department store that we went to for a coffee that had outstanding views of the duomo. Of course we had to snap a few pictures.
We went and had a lunch at eataly and then went to the academia to see the famous David. It really is huge in person and I never noticed how detailed the eyes are because you normally don’t see them. Other than David their weren’t many other art pieces I knew and we were only in the museum for about half and hour ( 1 hour in line!). Next my mom and I went and walked down to the river and the Santa Croce cathedral. After a mostly rainy day it was nice that the sun was out! For dinner we went to my favorite meal I have had in Italy so far! The restaurant is called osteria de golosi for anyone wondering. I had the best thinly sliced steak with some of my mom’s ravioli! It is a shame I didn’t get a picture but I guess you will just have to use your imagination.

The next day it was suppose to rain all day so we decided to make it our museum day! We went to the uffezi which has works such as the Birth of Venus. It was nice and all but I think that I am kind of over museums haha. We then spent the day walking around and enjoying my favorite gelato that I have eaten so far! Next stop Rome!
