When I walk down the streets in Barcelona I can’t help but sing along to the Ed Sheeran song! If you have never heard it, go look it up. Becky has arrived and our days have been action packed!
I started my day at the beach and laid out a little and enjoyed watching people. The only downside is the number of vendors asking if I wanted a cerveza (beer), even though it was 10 in the morning! Lots of topless sunbathing locals in contrast to the tacky Americans behind me drunk so early in the morning. Side note, turns out they were from where I was born in Tennessee and had ETSU shirts on (way to represent Americans so well lol). Sadly, I wasn’t too careful and got quite the sunburn and tacky tan lines, but oh well!
When Becky arrived in the afternoon we simply walked around the old town, went to the Picasso museum, and saw some other works by the famous Gaudi Architect. I went back to the hostel and turns out another Carlson 2017 grad was there with 2 other guys from the U. “Only” my 3rd group of U of M students I have meet so far-small world!
The next day, we got up early for our tour of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral. This was also designed by Gaudi and absolutely stunning! It isn’t finished yet and they hope to finish by 2026 in time for the 100 year anniversary of Gaudi’s death. You can see the 4 pillars in the front and there are 4 in the back, but the final cathedral will have 18 in total! Enjoy the pictures!

Next, we went to Park Guell and walked around. I still remember the cheetah girls scene filmed here lol I loved all of the colorful benches and mosaics.
We went to the market that I went to several other times to get a classic fruit juice and just look around some!

We walked around the Plaza Real and then went to the museum to take a few selfies.

Although we have done so much already, the day wasn’t over yet and we headed off to Poblsec, to have Pinchos for 1€ with some Vino Tinto!

To cap off the day, we went up to the Bunkers to watch the sunset. I naively thought it wouldn’t be too far from the metro stop, but was mistaken as we hiked to the top. thankfully we were rewarded with beautiful views that made it worth it!

I am quite impressed if you managed to read all the way to the bottom here! Thanks for reading and I promise to keep future posts a little shorter😊
