Amsterdam Day 3

By day 3 I feel like we are starting to get better adjusted to the time, our neighborhood, and more. The most exciting part of today is….. we got bikes! We got rentals for now as we plan to get our own bikes eventually. I found it interesting that a lot of the bikes are only 1 gear and have back petal brakes. We got a step up from that with actual brakes and 7 gears. The unfortunate part is that the pretty color bikes are the most basic ones. Dark blue bike it is!

We clearly aren’t too exhausted from our numerous trips up the 4 flights of stairs and rode 15 miles along the Amstel today. No bike accidents yet, although the Dutch are crazy about their bikes! We even managed to snap some nice windmill pictures along the way and stopped at a bakery for some fuel.

This was a first shot at a self timer pic rested on the basket of bike #2. I must say that I am quite impressed with ourselves!
Photo creds Ryan😘

Such a cute bakery! Fun fact, we actually stopped here two and a half years ago when we were in Amsterdam visiting with my brother and Ryan’s college friend.

Windmill #2!
15 miles later my new bike is back home!
Stroopwafels! Also, Dutch stroopwafels can’t even compare to American ones. SO GOOD! My current policy is 2 stroops a day max, but probably shouldn’t let that last too long😂

Stay tuned! ❤️ Melanie
