I think we have moved past the “settling in” phase and are now moved into making Amsterdam our home. It is difficult with the strict COVID measures, but we are doing what we can to try new things and be a part of the community.
I joined a pottery studio! It shouldn’t be too surprising to most of you that it took me less than 2 weeks. I only brought one mug that I made to Amsterdam and am excited to replenish my stock. There really is something special about drinking coffee from a homemade mug.
Speaking of coffee, With Ryan’s work we took a coffee class on a Saturday morning to taste test and learn some tips about making coffee at home. We have had a difficult time in Amsterdam because, GASP, they don’t have coffee creamer here. They only sell shelf stable type stuff that is not tasty and nothing like my favorite Trader Joe’s brand from home. We got a milk frother and found some Carmel syrup and after the workshop are now drink delicious cappuccinos every morning.
Another new adventure was making sushi ourselves! They had a sushi making kit at the store so we gave it a go. We did sweet potato and avocado roll and I think we did a pretty good job if I say so myself!
Here are various photos from walking around the city! We love our neighborhood and are so spoiled that even going to the grocery store we walk along the canal the entire way. It is also legal and very common to drink on the street. It is pretty fun to enjoy the scenery with a beer in hand!
