Today was a long anticipated day visiting the famous flower fields in Holland! It was still a little early for the tulips so don’t worry, we will be back again next weekend so still tons more photos to come! With the colder weather peak was delayed about 2 weeks from normal. Today, we saw tulips, but also tons of daffodils and hyacinths. The hyacinth fields were so fun to bike by as they smelled amazing!
We got up early to catch the train to Niuew-Vennep as we reserved bike rentals there for the day. Plot twist, minutes before arriving at the station, the bike shop texted me that the bikes wouldn’t be ready for us and were being repaired 🤦🏽♀️ We quickly came up with a plan b and instead got bikes from Leiden. Leiden is a little further south from the fields so good thing we ended up with super speedy ebikes! Overall, Amsterdam to Lieden is a short train at about 35 minutes.

Our final route! We started and stopped at the red pin and did about 38 miles in total. Thank goodness they were ebikes and not regular bikes, especially with the wind. 10/10 would recommend doing ebikes so you can see much more than a regular bike. It is also so easy to pull over when you want to stop. There was a decent amount of traffic by the famous Keukenhof park so glad we didn’t drive!

We took the train back to Amsterdam and got our own bikes and biked back home. In case you are wondering why we didn’t bring our bikes, it is because they are difficult to get on the train. There are only so many bikes allowed on each train plus you have to buy your bike a ticket so it was easier to rent bikes closer to the fields!
Stay tuned for our next trip to the flower region to see the tulip fields in peak!
