I am a few weeks behind in posting this, but better late than never! We took our first trip outside of the Netherlands to visit Taylor in Berlin.
We decided to take the train to Berlin and then fly home. The train was direct to Berlin and 6 hours with honestly pretty strong wifi.
Taylor meet us at the train station and after wrapping up my work day and lunch we adventured out to the East Side Galleries. This is part of the Berlin Wall that has been painted over. The art is quite famous and fun to take pictures of.
On Saturday we saw all the major Berlin sites! We started out with a boat tour along the Spree river. We took pictures in front of the Berliner Dom which I think is so cool! Fun fact, Taylor and I have pictures in front of here back in 2015 when I visited her from Vienna.
We saw the Brandenburg gate, TV tower, and checked out check point Charlie. The Brandenburg gate and check point Charlie were both very famous entry points from East to West Berlin. Check point Charlie is cool as they have a part that shows the history of the Berlin Wall. In case you didn’t know, the wall fell on November 9, 1989 and was put up in 1961 so honestly it has been down for just barely longer than it was up for. We also tried some classic German food!
Next, we hit up the chocolate shop and Ryan was in his element!
To end the evening we tried out a local beer garden. It was in the famous large park called tiergarden.
The next day was pretty low key as we walked around a nearby flea market snd then went to another beer garden (from the above picture) before heading back to Amsterdam in the evening!
