When people hear flowers from the Netherlands they are normally thinking tulips, but we have more than that! Not too far from Amsterdam there are gorgeous purple fields full of heather! They are normally in bloom the last week or two in August.
My suggestion is to take the train to Hilversum and then rent bikes from the train station to a park called Hoorneboegse Heide. It was beautiful and not too many people!
