I am a little behind on my posts, but still wanted to share our long weekend in Amsterdam!
My family landed on a Friday and we spend the first day walking through Jordaan neighborhood, having coffee at a cafe on the canal, and going to the local flower market. My family loved trying on the tourist clogs and my mom was very impressed by the bulbs at the flower market. Too bad she couldn’t buy 90% of the bulbs with customs rules 🤷🏽♀️
On Saturday, we took a day trip to Zaandam and Zaans Schans. These are both small towns about 30 minutes by train away from Amsterdam so it is an easy day trip. We didn’t spend much time in Zaandam- basically enough to get the picture with the famous Inntel Hotel below and get back on the train to continue towards Zaans Schans.
Once there, we went up into a windmill, walked around the many many windmills, saw how clogs are made in the museum, and enjoyed beers and traditional Dutch bitterballen at the Brouwerij Hoop brewery.
We headed back for dinner and enjoyed an Indonesia dinner at Kartika. It is fun that they bring out so many different dishes for you to try as seen in the below picture!
On Sunday, we went on a boat ride with Those Dam Boat Guys (highly recommend), got fries, and continued to enjoy the fun architecture that Amsterdam has. My family went to the Canals museum which is so far, my favorite museum in Amsterdam! We enjoyed wine outside at the Herengracht Bar and went to Mamas & Tapas for dinner which is a fun place here in Amsterdam.
Monday, while I was working my family went to the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh museum. We had a quiet ish night packing and getting ready to leave Tuesday morning early for Croatia! Stay tuned for the next 3 weeks of my traveling adventures!
