Hello, it’s London calling

Hello from London! Ryan is out of town for work for two weeks so it seemed like a great opportunity to meet up with my friend Lora, her sister and cousin in London for a long girl’s weekend.

I got in late Friday evening since I flew out after work. Funny enough, I ended up spotting Lora and Kristin on the tube so we were able to go together to the vacation home we rented in one of the outer neighborhoods of London.

Saturday was a beautiful and sunny day for exploring! We starting in the notting hill neighborhood and walked around the portobello market. Got a late lunch, we had fish and chips in Hyde park. We then continued onward to the center of London to Kensington around sunset for some classic photos.

The next day we started with a fabulous brunch at Crispin and wandered through the Spittelfield market before heading center to see the Tower of London, shard, and Tower bridge. Later in the afternoon, we went to Mercato metropolitan and had cocktails. We also saw the musical Six which was awesome! It is a pop musical about the 6 wife’s of Henry the 8th. The first picture is from the internet but shows how fun the costumes are 😉

The next morning we continued the ritual with a morning coffee. Then, we wandered through around the national gallery and had afternoon tea! The place said online it was “afternoon tea with an African flare” which meant they restaurant was animal themed😂 either way it was so cute and a fun experience!

My other fun story about London was trying to get back to Amsterdam from the London Luton airport. I left an hour and a half so I would then be at the airport 2 hours before departure…. I almost missed my flight. It was 4 forms of public transit and I somehow got on the wrong train and took it only 1 wrong stop to mess my entire schedule up. I got to the airport 50 minutes till departure and needed to check my bag😬 I was running but ended up making it after checking my bag in 10 minutes and was through security in another 5. London is great, but that far to get to the airport makes me appreciate the village/ city Amsterdam is. When I arrived in Amsterdam it was 50 minutes from the doors on the plane opening with customs to my apartment and home sweet home!

Visiting London was odd to me since I figured I would live there if I ever lived in Europe. I am so happy that I ended up in Amsterdam though! London is great with so much to do and I am insanely jealous of all of the theater, but Amsterdam is so much easier to live in being smaller in my opinion.

Stay tuned for more London content as I am planning another trip back in May!

❤️Melanie
