Wee-kend roadtrip on the Isle of Skye

One of the highlights of our Scotland trip was the Isle of Skye. It was a bit far from Edinburgh for a only 3 day trip in Scotland, but totally worth it. With our semi last minute planning there weren’t any reasonably priced hotels specifically on the island so we ended up staying just outside the island and doing everything in a single day- it was quite the whirlwind.

We started by getting the ferry early from Mallig. It was such a beautiful morning! Scotland is well- known for rain so I brought many layers, but didn’t need anything other than a tank top for the majority of the hiking! Based on the weather for our trip, I’m not convinced it rains very much in Scotland 😂

One of our first stops was pulling over on the road to see the famous highland cows. Unfortunately, this was the only place we saw them all day despite them being on every postcard for this area!

After the cows our first official stop was the fairy pools which were incredible! It was one of my favorite stops of the day and water was so blue as you can see in the picture with me and Ryan.

After the fairy pools we kept heading north to the top of the Isle of Skye towards Fairy Glen . It was so green and hilly to wander around.

We continued along on our road trip for the very anticipated Quiraring hike. It was well rated on all the hiking apps and the views looked awesome! It did not disappoint. Although, Ryan will not be doing another hike without real hiking boats as I was nervous at some points he would fall off the mountain 😂

We next up pulled over briefly to see this beautiful waterfall along the coast! It was only 5 minutes off the road and a beautiful stop- highly recommend!

We stopped quickly in the town of Portree for dinner- although literally every restaurant was full on a Tuesday. Pro tip to book in advance, but it wasn’t too bad to have classic fish and chips for dinner from a local stand in town.

We were speeding along on our day trying to get to our hotel before check in closed, so it was just a quick pit- stop along the Eilean Donan Castle. Normally the water is all the way up so It was low-tide here, but still really cool.

This is the end of our Scotland trip! It was so fun and I highly recommend a trip to Scotland if you get a chance.
