Lost in the universe: interlakken part 1

With expected rain for most of my time in Interlakken, my first day was suppose to be beautiful and I decided to make the most of it! I got up at 5:45am to catch the 7:05 bus from Lucerne to Interlakken. It was well worth the early morning to get in a full day of hiking!

I started the day by leaving my stuff at the hostel in Interlakken and making my way to Lauterbrunn. Lauterbrunn is known for being in the valley of the mountains with 72 waterfalls all around. I have seen the town on Pinterest a number of times and it did not disappoint!

Yes, hard to believe but this is an actual real picture I took and is not fake😂

Views of Lauterbrunn from the Gondala

The beginning of my hike
My selfie stick broke in the morning so I had to resort to regular old selfies😥

After walking through the Lauterbrunn valley I went to the trummelbach falls which is where you can see 10 waterfalls inside of the mountain. I took the elevator up and then walked down to see them all. It was crazy how loud it was in the tunnels from the waterfalls going through.

The paths were lit up throughout
Next, I continued through the Lauterbrunn Valley until I made it to the gondola and took it up through Grimmelwald and Murren. I set off on the mountain view hike from Murren where I hiked along the side of the valley overlooking the famous eiger and jungfreu peaks.

Murren is down below

Since my selfie stick broke, every timeI ran into someone I asked if they would take my picture. Not too bad of a picture for a random stranger!

View of the park in Allmendhubel

Thankfully they had great signs along the way so I didn’t get lost haha

Not quite from the top, but close (the top of Allmendrlhubel is 6257ft)

Sometimes there were little creeks in the pathway to go over, but it just made it that much more picturesque

Cows! Although not nearly close to as many as the hike with Kevin in Lucerne.

Daily totals: 16.2 miles, 40,487 steps, and 134 “flights climbed” according to my phone by the end of the day. After all of the hiking and that 5:45am wake up call you could say I was tired by the end of the day!

The next day it was suppose to rain all afternoon so I took it easy and stayed in Interlakken. It ended up being nice weather  with the rain holding off, but after 2 long days of hiking my feet and body needed a chill day. I decided to walk around the lake to Riggenberg!

Unexpectedly found this castle with gorgeous views of the city.

Small towns are so much more fun in foreign countries! I also love how the train ran through the right as I was taking the picture!

I actually canceled my reservations early for Interlakken due to the forecasted rain, but since it held off today it might work out! I think I might stay a few more days, but we will see otherwise I could head to southern Switzerland, the options are endless!

Thanks for reading,

❤️Melanie
