Tulip Time year #3

Kind of crazy to think that this is our third year seeing the tulips. Wow, time flies! I think by year #3 we really do have the best route to see the tulips all figured out.

Here are links to our tulip adventures in 2021 and 2022!

DIY Tulip Fields

This last weekend we took our annual bike trip out to the fields. It was an absolute beautiful, magical day e-biking around! It was a high of 63 and in the past years it has been much much colder, so we enjoyed the warmer weather this year.

Additionally I think we got a good route down. Last year we went on the day of the flower parade which was really cool, but also so so crowded. This year was more leisurely as we had more time to wander around. In total, we did about 34 miles starting in Haarlem and biking south from there.

Enjoy some of the beautiful photos from this year! One of the highlights was for sure seeing the tulips in front of the windmill.

Also, as a disclaimer we only walked through fields where we had permission as a part of tourist attractions. Otherwise, you should not walk through the fields as this is very harmful to the tulips. You can take just as good of photos along the edges of the fields ☺️

Keukenhof

Although a tourist attraction, it is a must-do if you are in the Netherlands in the Spring time. Keuhenkof is open from mid-March to mid May with the best time to visit in the middle of those times. Although, they do a great job of having the tulips blooming throughout the entire season! The last 2 years I have gone the first week of May and it has been perfect.

There are 7 million flowers planted at Keukenhof every year and it is absolutely incredible to see! My favorite parts are how they design the gardens with similar/cohesive colors together and the unique tulips that are included in the gardens. Fun fact, that a lot of tulips aren’t allowed in the US as they are hybrids and considered “diseased” so you can see tons of varieties that aren’t available in the US! I am proud to say that I really limited down my photos from last year and “only” have 100 great photos from the day. Below is a selection of my favorites.

Tulips in Amsterdam

Finally, I wanted to share some beautiful tulip pictures from around Amsterdam. These tend to peak around the 20th of April and it is so fun to see them all set up through the city. Enjoy!
